First, let me introduce myself a little bit..
My name is My (pronounced "me", my mom was heavily medicated when asked what she wanted my name to be, so don't ask) to most of you, but Nick to the rest (call me what you want). I'm 22 years young, originally from Arlington, VA, currently residing in Baltimore, MD and loving it! I work in the Hospitality industry and although it's not a passion of mine, it pays the bills and I can't complain. As for things I like doing, honestly, I'm just an average guy that enjoys the simpler things in life, as well as treating myself to great times with great people and drinks. =) If you have any further questions about me, just feel free to ask and I'll be more than happy to answer.
Now to the interesting stuff..
So, like most of you out there, I've made some great personal goals for the new year! This years goal isn't much different from all the rest, but the main difference with this time around is that unlike previous attempts, I WILL succeed. The reason why I'm so confident is that I thought it'd be really cool to start blogging my entire journey to accomplishing my goals, and with the help of you guys, get a lot of positive feedback and support!
And what are the goals you might ask?
Well, like a lot of people out there, my first goal is to lose weight. I started this last year, but like most people, I gave into the temptations of the holidays and hit a plateau; and since it was last year, I'm going to start the goal at my current weight rather than my starting weight last year.
My second goal is to become a fully fledged pescatarian, and eventually become an all out vegetarian. I gave up red meats a couple months ago, but only stayed true to it for only a couple weeks at a time. Now, I know what some of you will say, "but Nick, it's not smart to change your eating habits while you're starting a weight loss diet!". You're right, it's not smart. But, as I mentioned, I've been doing it for a couple of months now and I'm pretty sure my body has adjusted accordingly.
Lastly, and definitely the hardest to write about due to fear of judgement by people that don't already know, but I'm quitting my number one addiction; marijuana. Though most of you might say that's an easy goal, to me, it's not and I'll explain. I started smoking the ganja back in high school purely as recreation, and fell into the deep, dark world of drugs. After some time dealing and using, I slipped up and spent a night in jail which was the best thing that could've happened to me. After only a couple of hours of self reflection, I decided to jump out of the game and get straight; or so I said. I stopped dealing, but I still smoked up every now and again for the next year or two. Back in August of 2007, my mother passed away and I swore I'd never smoke again knowing that she didn't approve. I mean, what mother would? Well, that lasted for about 48 hours and I was back at it. Honestly, it wasn't to geek out or even to enjoy the high, but more so as a sleep aid. After my mom passed, I found it nearly impossible to sleep on my own, and after a year and half, I've become dependent with it and it's about time to kick the habit.
How will I keep you updated?
Simple. I'll fill you in with everything every other day, starting on Monday. Why Monday? Well, frankly, it's new years weekend, and I wanted to seriously do it big without worrying about watching calories and what not.
Isn't this blog going to be boring?
Fuck you. That's the last thing it'll be! =) Not only will this be a way to track my progress, but it'll be a way to keep in touch, get to know me, and most importantly, a good way for me to try and use my great personality to bring joy to you guys! But really, for those of you who really know me, you know I have my moments, and this will be a good way to keep them archived. =)
When can I expect hearing from you again?
Well, other than Monday and every other day after that, I'll be putting up another post tomorrow evening with details on how I plan on doing this. As for now, this is just an introduction and an opportunity to see if anyone will actually read this.
Alright guys, I think that was a pretty decent intro and got what I wanted to say out there. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys have to say, what tips you may have, or what insults you could come up with. It doesn't matter, as long as you're truthful. Thank you so much for reading and I'll see you soon! =)
